Writers like to write books. Or they hate to write books. But one thing is for sure: they can’t help themselves and they DO write books.
The best case scenario of course is that people enjoy a book you write and that it leads to a sequel. Even better is when both are received well enough to give the world a trilogy.
That happened to me recently, and I traveled to Eastercon in Birmingham to launch the third book in the series that began with Outside in 2017 and continued with 2021’s Splinter.
Amalgam brings the story to a conclusion that I love, and explores the themes I’ve been developing to their logical conclusion. And, while I would love for people to care for the characters as much as I did, I would consider my work to be successful if I manage to make people think of what is coming for humanity.
